Are the tickets really free?

Yup, the tickets are free. Come one, come all. We hope to raise enough money through sponsors to cover all of the costs, however, we cannot guarantee that. So, we might end up passing the hat around so that we can order some pizza and drinks.

What happens during Mobile Weekend?

Think of this event as a sort of recipe with Mobile Weekend being the crock pot. We gather all the best tech and business minds around. We sit down together and architect a mobile application for today’s mobile devices.

The weekend will start with a brief orientation of the systems we’re using — providing the participants with whatever credentials they’ll need to access everything they need such as the wireless network and the repository. All this infrastructure will be set up prior to the participants arriving. After that, we’ll take all the feasible ideas and lay them out on the table. The participants will then choose the one they like best. If possible, different groups will be established based on the platform expertise present.

The rest of the weekend uses the combined knowledge and experience of the participants to run itself with a couple assigned moderators to ensure the weekend goes by as smoothly as possible.

What happens after Mobile Weekend?

Mobile weekend will provide post-weekend support the best it can based on sponsorship funds available. This can include but may not be limited to process support, legal support and some preliminary funding if possible.

Who will attend?

The brightest and best entrepreneurial minds, both technical and business oriented. Have a good idea for a mobile application that can really help users of the industry? We want to see you there!

What should I know?

It’s not what you know but more how you think. If you’re an entrepreneurial individual who loves to try new, radical ideas and mold them into something real, then Mobile Weekend is for you!

I’m not a developer, is there a spot for me?

You bet! We need just as many non-developer participants to make this event a success. We need logistics, marketing, legal, and general business practices.

Don’t have any of that business stuff? We need to document the event too! Bloggers and photographers are needed.

What should I bring?

Bring your laptop, we might have some spare computers, but there are no guarantees. Mobile Weekend will provide the infrastructure needed to connect your notebook to everything you’ll need during the weekend.

Will a company be formed after the weekend?

It is a possibility. If an application’s team believes they have the potential to create a company out of it, Mobile Weekend leaves the legal details to the team’s participants. Since the main goal Mobile Weekend is to gather the community together, Mobile Weekend remains separate from the actual applications that are developed and takes no Founder Stock in any company that may be produced.

How is founder stock distributed?

Founder stock is distributed for each 1/3 of a day. Friday night is considered 1/3 of a day so each participant receives 1 share. Saturday is split up into thirds and participants are given a share for every third they choose to participate in. If a participant takes part 100% in all 3 days, they will receive 7 shares by the end of the weekend.

Does Mobile Weekend take any founder stock?

No. We are here purely to organize and facilitate the event. We love to see the tech community come together to create exciting new things and this is one of the ways we thought we could help.
